The department of surgical oncology is one of the most important division in the National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital (NICRH), Dhaka, Bangladesh. It provides surgical inputs in the multidisciplinary management of cancers and performing ablation of solid tumour. Surgery remains the best modality, either by itself or in combination with adjuvant treatment of solid cancers. In our hospital this department provides surgical oncology OPD, diagnostic procedure and services as Endoscopy, Colonoscopy and various biopsy procedures and curative as well as palliative surgical procedures for a wide array of cancers with a team of experts and experienced skilled surgeons. The Divisionof Surgical Oncology offers a comprehensive approach involving specialiazed care cancer research related treatment of malignant tumours. There’s an emphasis on research where our surgical oncologist engage in basic science and clinical studies of cancer prevention, experimental treatments, Molecular therapy and immunogenetic study. In addition there is Master in Surgery( MS) Residency course on Surgical oncology under supervision of BSMMU, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The vast experiences over 1000 major and 7500 minor surgical procedures every year has brought an unmatched excellence to the department.
